The crash happened around 12:45 a.m. but the road was partially blocked for clean-up efforts until 8: 30 a.m. on Dec. 20, according to Schreffler and PennDOT's 511PA.
The tractor-trailer crashed and rolled as it left the roadway on I-81 near Exit 52: Route 11/Harrisburg Pike, in Cumberland County, Schreffler detailed.
The driver's injuries were reportedly minor, first responders told Schreffler.
The trucker was "conscious, answering questions, and miraculously not trapped," New Kingstown Fire Company wrote in a Facebook post, "This driver is very, very lucky based on the extreme damage from the impact of several large trees."
The company went on to explain the following about the crash scene:
"The cab was completely off the frame and facing back toward the truck. The trailer was torn open and most all of the contents were strewn through the wreckage and immediate scene. The crew from the Squad and Engine gained more access with saws cutting saplings and the perimeter fencing. Crews used a little giant ladder to assist the driver up and over the truck cab, which the roof was torn off. He was packaged and secured in the stokes baskets and carried to the hard road."
There were residual delays on the road well into the morning.
